Railyard Park Conservancy, Railyard Art Project and Elizabeth Jacobson are pleased to announce session 2 of the RAP Community Poetry Class : A free 8-week workshop series on Tuesday evenings, in the Railyard Park.
Please join us for an ongoing craft workshop and conversation in the Railyard community room. The class will run weekly, on Tuesdays 5:30-7:00pm, from September 10th – October 29th, culminating with a reading and the publication of a community poetry chapbook of participants’ poems. Everyone is welcome! Plenty of parking behind SITE Santa Fe where the Railyard Community Room is located.
The first half of class will be dedicated to reading and discussing contemporary poems, with each class focused on one of many aspects of craft (ie voice, tone, structure, style etc.) The poems read in class will demonstrate the focus for that particular meeting and participants will have writing time in class so please bring journals.
The second half of class will act as a workshop, where individuals can bring copies of their own poems for peer review, followed by an open discussion and constructive feedback from the class.
This 8-week course will culminate in a public reading and participant’s poems will be included in a chapbook, published in the fall time.
RSVP by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org
Each poetry class will meet at the Railyard Community Room (701 Callejon), directly behind SITE Santa Fe and, weather permitting, students will have the opportunity to explore and write in the beautiful Railyard Park!
Poet and educator Elizabeth Jacobson has lived and worked in Santa Fe for thirty years. Her second full length collection, NOT INTO THE BLOSSOMS AND NOT INTO THE AIR, was published in January, 2019 (Free Verse Editions/Parlor Press)
