Volunteer Opportunities
The Railyard Park and Plaza’s design responds to the history and climate of Santa Fe by using a combination of native plants, historic food plants and well-adapted ornamental plants. Our volunteer gardeners are the human toolkit that keeps our park green and growing.
JOIN THE YARDMASTERS
To Keep the Railyard Park On Track
Yardmasters garden together to keep Santa Fe’s favorite public outdoor space vibrant and beautiful while learning about life in the high desert.
Give one day (24 hours) to the Railyard Park spread out over this year to grow a happy park and community, while also developing your green thumb. There are many incentives to being a Yardmaster including free training and workshops, the intangible rewards of enriching the visitor’s experience of the Railyard Park, and dedication awards.
Yardmasters Orientation is March 24, 2012.
No prior experience or knowledge is necessary! Preliminary training is supplemented by workshops to cover a broad array of topics:
- Basic botany and plant identification
- Ethnobotany
- Pollination
- Pruning
- Landscape design
- And more!
