The Railyard Park and Plaza’s design responds to the history and climate of Santa Fe by using a combination of native plants, historic food plants and well-adapted ornamental plants. Our volunteer gardeners are the human toolkit that keeps our park green and growing.
Garden in the Park with the Yardmasters!
Keeping the Railyard Park On Track
If you are, or someone else you know is, looking to learn about high desert plants or interested in keeping Santa Fe’s favorite public space vibrant and beautiful – come garden in the Park with the Railyard Yardmasters. We are looking for people who can give a little bit of their time, to help Railyard Stewards keep the Railyard Park on track. There are many incentives to being a Yardmaster including free training and workshops, the intangible reward of enriching the visitor’s experience of the Railyard Park, and dedication awards.
No prior experience or knowledge is necessary! Each workday includes a brief educational introduction and supervised by a knowledgeable member of Railyard Stewards.
When: Weekly Summer Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8-10am. Off-Season Hours: 9-11am.
Where: Meet at Railyard Park Community Room (the metal building by SITE Sante Fe’s parking).
For More Information: Contact Eric – (505) 316-3596 or email@example.com.
“It’s a real pleasure to work with the Railyard Stewards. There is always a lot of gardening to be done at the Santa Fe Railyard Park, and it’s always accomplished in a spirit of camaraderie and good cheer. The park is a fine public space, always busy with Santa Feans and visitors obviously enjoying the atmosphere; people often stop to ask questions about plants and gardening, and to thank the Stewards for our service. (Railyard staff) are easy to work with, gracious and generous. I always look forward to my Stewardship days in the Park!” – Linda Churchill, Green Forward LLC and former volunteer coordinator with the Santa Fe Botanical Gardens.
