Santa Fe Railyard Park and Plaza

CONSTRUCTION THE RAILYARD PARK AND PLAZA HAS BEGUN!

Every day, The Trust for Public Land, in partnership with the city of Santa Fe, is getting closer to realizing Santa Fe's dream of a central park, plaza and walk-bike trails in the historic railyard.

On May 9, The Trust for Public Land contracted with Star Construction, Inc. of Albuquerque to build the Railyard Park and Plaza.

On May 12, some 200 community members gathered at the site of the 10-acre Railyard Park for a public "ground renewal" ceremony that included music, poetry, a ceremonial tree watering and other activities symbolizing the revitalization of the historic park site. Among the ground renewal highlights was an exciting announcement from the Kind World Foundation, which presented $250,000 to help build the Railyard Park and Plaza and challenged the community to turn their gift into $1 million.

To date, nearly $10 million in public and private funding has been raised toward our goal of $13.5 million. An additional $3.5 is now essential to complete all of the Park and Plaza's built features and amenities.

We're on our way, but we still have a ways to go. With your help, we can reach the project's desired completion during spring and early summer of 2008.

TO ENSURE SUCCESS, WE NEED YOUR HELP. PLEASE CONSIDER ONE OF THE FOLLOWING GIFTS TO HELP US MEET OUR PROJECT GOALS:
You can join the Flower Fund with a gift of any size. Or you can purchase a limited-edition bronze prairie dog by internationally acclaimed bronze animal sculptor Dan Ostermiller. Or honor a friend or family member with a gift to recognize them on a park bench. Or join Groundbreakers, our business donor alliance. Or select any of our other giving opportunities for other creative ways to give. Whatever you choose, your generosity will be recognized and remembered.

Whether you are an individual, a business or a foundation, your gift to the Railyard Park and Plaza is a gift to Santa Fe.

To learn about the many ways you can give to the Railyard Park and Plaza, please call Laurel Savino at 505-988-5922, ext. 114, or email laurel.savino@tpl.org
