BELLASOLAR RAILYARD COMMUNITY BLOCK PARTY

On September 26 a community block party was held at the Railyard Plaza.  The event featured free music and a dance party on the Railyard Plaza at the Water Tower.  Handcrafted beer and Green Chile food specials at 2nd Street Brewery’s new Railyard location were also enjoyed. Two incredible bands – Mexican Institute of Sound, Mexico City-based electronic music project fusing traditional and cutting edge contemporary sounds and B-Side Players, San Diego’s hot Latin funk, rock, jazz and hip-hop sensation with their new album Fire in the Youth played at the event.  It was multi-cultural, bilingual, energetic and fun for all ages!

Weekend Event a Success: Fine Art for Children and Teens hosted a great event on August 14 at the Railyard Park and Plaza with art projects, performances, break dancing and more.  Thanks for a great weekend, FACT!  For more great community events, check out the Railyard Community Corporation’s Calendar of Events.

For the second year in a row the Railyard Park + Plaza was honored with the Santa Fe Reporter’s ‘Best of Santa Fe’ for public outdoor spaces.  We received second place only to the historic downtown plaza, and thank our community for recognizing us!

The Santa Fe Railyard has the honor of of receiving a Heritage Preservation Award in spring of 2010 the category of Community Preservation Planning from the Cultural Properties Review Committee!  The Railyard Stewards thank the committee for recognizing the Railyard Park + Plaza, and Gayla Bechtol and Suby Bowden for their nomination of the space.
